About the Role:
This is an opportunity to join Core & Cloud Planning unit as Senior Manager Cloud Data Center Planning and Deployment within Technology Division. We are looking for a Senior Technology Leader who has the skills and drive to Innovate, Plan & Deploy the ever-evolving Cloud Technology, as per Technical & Business Strategy & Needs. Your Impactful Goals will include:
- Strategic Planning of Cloud Platform for Telco & IT Data Centers.
- Lead as Subject Matter Expert in the designated areas of Cloud Platform & Data Center Security.
- Design & Plan and Implement Large scale complex projects.
- Apply leadership and management skills to aspire teams for Innovation and Transformation activities that will give Telenor a unique proposition in industry.
- Understanding and evangelizing strategic context to all key stakeholders to create value.
How will your Typical Day look like:
- Design, Plan, Deploy/Implement and Optimize Cloud Platform as part of Telenor Architecture, Strategy & Guidelines.
- Prepare and share Cloud solutions adhering Security architecture to relevant Management forums for conceptual and business cases approvals.
- Leadership and Direction to Planning team members to ensure progress leading towards evolution of Telenor’s Hybrid Cloud, both within Telecom & IT Domains.
- Lead the deep dive technical design sessions to ensure that Architectural needs are addressed while adherence to data center security principles associated with Cloud Platform.
- Lead as SME to design and develop architecture for NFVi based Telco Data Center while ensuring all design tightly coupled with security architecture.
- Lead as SME to design and develop architecture for IT Data Center where business support systems are required to be hosted. It is a prime responsibility of SME to adhere security architecture while designing cloud platform architecture.
- Lead as SME to evaluate both private (on-prem) and public cloud and preparing thorough analysis with respect to cost, security, design and candidacy of application/network function.
- Design and develop plans to migrate workloads/applications from on-prem to public cloud with minimum service disruption.
- Prepare and conduct proof of concepts (POC) for new technologies.
- Lead for developing the project documentation i.e. Project Plan, HLD, LLD in coordination with internal as well as external stakeholders i.e. vendors/partners.
- Participate in workshops, technical streams to proper evaluation of new technology solutions, identify shortcomings, risks with the mitigation plan.
- Act as technical expert for global design teams for handling global architecture specifications, running gap analysis with improvement plans and handling demand management process at regional level
- Responsible for planning technological transformation of Data Centers, from the current to a more secure & reliable environment.
- Financial management including forecasting (traffic / resource), solution finalization & ordering, deployment & capitalizations with overall budget control.
- Manage expectations and conflict resolution among project stakeholders, steering committee, project teams and manage service providers
- Manage planning team resources in effective & efficient manner, building on their strengths & skills leading towards achieving Organizational deliverables. Also ensure team members are motivated, productive while enhancing their experience.
- Engage and coordinate with partners/vendors in Cloud Infrastructure implementation activities.
- Responsible to coordinate with Group teams and relevant Operations teams for different tasks & projects.
- Coordination with vendors for proper evaluation of new versions, patches, firmware and security patches with timely implementation
- Process writing to as per ITIL v3 standard to cover process like change management, configuration management, access management, service design to service improvement

- Education: Bachelors in Computer Engineering.
- Certifications: It is preferred to have following certifications.
- Red Hat Certified System Engineer – RHCE
- Red Hat Certified OpenStack Administrator – RHCSA in OpenStack
- Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration
- VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization
- AWS Certified Professional
- Certified Information Security Manager
Functional Skills/Knowledge Areas:
- The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate Leadership skills, be Innovative, proactive and customer focused, be self driven and adaptable and work well in a pressure situation.
- Knowledge and implementation experience in following key areas will be preferred:
- Knowledge of private cloud architecture
- Knowledge and working experience in deploying VNFs on ETSI based NFVi architecture
- Knowledge of methodology to migrate VNFs
- Knowledge and working experience in public cloud (AWS, GCP)
- Knowledge and working experience on SDN technologies e.g. Cisco ACI, Nuage, VMware NSX.
- Excellent skills and technical knowledge in LAN, WLAN & WAN Technologies
- Private cloud architecture for scale out & integration to public cloud
- Knowledge and deployment experience of Red Hat OpenStack & OpenShift
- Knowledge and extensive working experience in Linux based operating systems i.e. RHEL, CentOS, or Ubuntu
- Knowledge and working experience of system hardening (Linux and Microsoft Windows Server)
- Knowledge of Red Hat Ceph storage architecture
- Knowledge and implementation experience in high availability clustering implementation
- Knowledge and working experience in Ansible and scripting
- Knowledge of SAN storage administration and implementation
- Knowledge and working experience on different variants of compute hardware (HPE, DellEMC, Huawei).
Knowledge and working and deployment experience of following security solutions will be preferred:
- Identity and access management solutions
- Microsoft Active Directory, LDAP
- Antivirus and anti-malware
- Multi-factor authentication
- Next Gen Firewalls, IPS, IDS, NetFlows
- Forward and reverse proxy
- Knowledge of cloud architecture and orchestration
- Excellent skills in IP Network’s Security, having experience of Design, Implementation and Operations. Key Areas – Perimeter, Access & Information Control and Data Centre Networks.
