Material Engineer is responsible to the UM MWH about managing; security and safe custody of warehouse stock items and issue activity in the light of the work procedure. He has to manage warehouse operators and helpers working under him and their efficiency. He is responsible to ensure optimum inventory level of all stock items. He is required to maintain close coordination with procurement so as to minimize chances of stock out situations.
Key Responsibilities
Technical:
- Liaison with all plant interfaces including SCF for maintaining smooth operations of Material warehouse.
- Working experience of fertilizer or power plant or oil & gas plant
- Should have basic know how of plants equipment, machines , electrical items etc.
- Basic understanding of Coding/cataloguing of material warehouse items.
- Awareness of strategies to forecast & quantify material requirements.
- Inventory management techniques & strategies relating to lean warehousing.
- Should be able to execute inventory analysis & take measures to avoid inventory build-up.
- Basic knowledge of ERP , system reports & transactions, work orders , material issuance etc.
- Knowledge of safety stock levels & re-ordering point.
- Knowledge of basic material characteristics, material storage and protection techniques.
- Should have understanding and clarity of procurement/supply chain cycle
- Material inspection and material receipt reports
- Understanding of MSDS
- Awareness of PSM,ISO 9001, 14001 & EMS, 18001& OHIH
- Knowledge of plant safety requirements and Environmental compliance
- Budget preparation & handling (Handling of CAPEX projects and effective utilization of OPEX & S&S budget).
- Devise strategy and innovative ways to optimize budget and cost at site level
- Good grip on Microsoft office excel, power point, Word
- Good English communications skills (Written & verbal)
- Knowledge of competency index, skill certification, knowledge index & training of employees.
Required Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of lean management inventory techniques and understanding of supply chain cycle.
- Basic knowledge of ERP system (Oracle & SAP) and able to extract different reports
- Knowledge of safety stock and reorder point
- Conversant Material storage and protection techniques
- Awareness of PSM ISO 9001, 14001 & EMS, 18001 & OHIH
- Certification in inventory Management will be consider as additional advantage like APICS CPIM or CLTD)
- Certification is lean Six sigma will be consider as additional advantage. (Yellow , Green belt)
- He should be good in time management and Planning & Scheduling skills.
